Mr. Paul-Jean Le Cannu is a Team Leader and Senior Legal Counsel at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID, World Bank Group).

Mr. Le Cannu serves as Secretary to the Tribunal in arbitral proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention and the ICSID Additional Facility Rules. He also serves as Secretary of ad hoc Committees in annulment proceedings brought under the ICSID Convention. Mr. Le Cannu regularly gives lectures and writes on ICSID arbitration and procedures. Prior to joining ICSID, Mr. Le Cannu acted as Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in the Hague, the Netherlands.

He was an associate in the international arbitration department of the firm Shearman & Sterling LLP in Paris, France, before joining the PCA. Mr. Le Cannu is one of the founders of AfricArb.
